No Foolin' -It is time for April's Sketch Challenge at THE DOO!

It is APRIL 1st - not only does that mean it is April Fool's Day - it also means it is CHALLENGE TIME over at THE DOO Blog!

And... I am PLEASED as PUNCH to tell you that I've created the sketch for this month's challenge - MY FIRST EVER!!!!

HERE it is:
When I created this sketch - I envisioned using buttons or flower elements where the colored circles are, and saw it as a chance to use up lots of my patterned paper scraps on a solid cardstock background. That was my intention - and feel free to use that idea, if you are stuck coming up with one - or if need a little direction...

BUT - when I selected the 2 photos that I wanted to use ( Yup, I'm still working on that book for my son's upcoming graduation) and I started looking through my "stash" of DOO PRODUCT - to see what I would "go" with them -- my thoughts went in a different direction - and here is what I came up with :
Like I said in past posts, I love using sketch challenges to help me focus and create!  I need to finish this album for my youngest son Jake's graduation gift and I have until the middle of July.  Since I started scrapping late in my boy's lives, I have A LOT of catching up to do - so I am selecting special memories or moments to include.

These photos were from our 2003 trip to Niagara Falls.  The red in Jake's t-shirt and the tropical feel caused me to carry that theme out into the layout.  I used glitter gel pens to color in the leaves which were cut out of G45 Tropical Travelogue papers and then curled and pop-dotted onto the page (in place of those buttons!) as well as to color and enhance the beautiful flowers on the base page of "SUMMER" from Kaisercraft's Tropicana collection.

I am really happy with how this layout came out, an glad that I found these photos - I love the look of the family behind Jake, as he is "holding" all of those beautiful lorikeets! I'm sure it will make him smile when he sees it!

ITEMS USED:  Although all of the items used to create my layout were purchased at THE DOO - only the first 3 items listed are still are in stock.

Please visit the Scrap-a-Doodle Doo BLOG to see my friend and fellow DT member Ms. Adina Medina's take on my sketch - which by the way is just AWESOME!!
