October Scrap Our Stash Blend-a-Sketch Challenge "Ahoy There!"

Hello Scrappy friends - It is time for this month's Blend-a-Sketch Challenge for October!  All of the details, rules and PRIZE info, along with more inspiration can be found on the
Scrap Our Stash Blog  - Please join us and play along!

I used the background from the left sketch - but I flipped it so the larger piece of patterned paper was on the top of the layout. I also  used the "tag" element from that sketch by making the banners into tags, and I also added round circle embellishments.  From the right sketch, I used 2 photos, the patterned paper layering and the banner shape.  I added the 2 red circles to go along with the dash circles on the sketch.  I also used the diagonal patterned paper for the banner on the far right.

Here is my layout for your inspiration:
I used photos of my hubby and I enjoying a "drink of the day" on our 2016 Disney Wonder Westbound Panama Canal Cruise.  I've collected lots of "cruise" paper over the years and actually mixed papers and embellishments from 3 different manufacturers in this layout!
I am very happy with how it turned out.
Here are some close ups for you!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope I have inspired you to join us at the Scrap Our Stash Blog, and play along with this SUPER FUN Challenge!
I look forward to seeing what you come up with!

My Little Scrapbook Store G45 Sun Kissed "You and Me by the Sea"

Hello Scrappy Friends -   I've created another layout for the My Little Scrapbook Store's Design Team using the beautiful Sun Kissed Collection from Graphic 45!

I selected a photo of my husband and I that was taken before our first SNUBA excursion, on our 30th Anniversary Disney Wonder Hawaiian Cruise, back in October of 2012.  I've held onto this photo for 6 years now!! because I wasn't sure if I wanted to scrap it. There was so much "stuff" in the photo around us, like a van, a ramp, people I didn't know - and our goofy looking water shoes and an ugly mat they made us stand on!!!  I decided to use more fussy cut elements and seashells to make a frame around the photo, and cover up the areas I didn't like.

I want to show you how I made the background - I knew I loved the orange fish paper - but I really loved all of the papers in this pack. I wanted to use a bunch of them, and since they all coordinate - you can't go wrong!

I first cut strips of paper and began to layer them on an angle across the base page  Since they are only 12 inches long - they would not reach to each end.  I then placed my photo and the one card element that I cut out on the layout to see about where I wanted to place them, and where I could make the "behind the scenes cuts!"

Below you can see where I "pieced" my puzzle together.  Here is a TIP - use a ruler to place your top two pieces of your first row - then just butt the other pieces up underneath it as you add more - leaving a little hanging over the edges.  This is a GREAT way to use up scraps of paper that you have too - just keep in mind where you are going to place your photo(s) -you can even draw a pencil line around where your photo is going to go - so you can make sure the gaps won't show.

Once all lines are glued - flip the paper over and use a ruler and exacto knife to trim off the overhanging pieces.

Here you can see that you can't tell that the strips didn't connect, and you can also see all the "stuff" I was taking about in the photo!

And now it is time for some close ups of the finished layout!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope I've inspired you to try out this technique, or maybe even do a little fussy cutting!  Be sure to pop on over the the My Little Scrapbook Store to pick up some of this beautiful Graphic 45 Sun Kissed Collection! My Little Scrapbook Store - Graphic 45 "Sun Kissed"

Hello Scrappy Friends -   I've created another layout for the My Little Scrapbook Store's Design Team - This time I got to use the beautiful Sun Kissed Collection from Graphic 45!
I used photos from a family trip to Topsail Island, NC from back in 2009.  My husband had just had shoulder surgery, and he is walking along the beach with our 2 sons, and our first Portuguese Water Dog Lily, who passed away in 2011.  It was her first trip to the beach, and we found out that even though she was a Water Dog - "water" wasn't her "thing!" LOL!

I really wanted to show-case this beautiful Graphic 45 paper and stickers and really only added some inking, using Ranger Distress Stains - along with some Nuvo Crystal and Glitter Drops as embellishments to my layout!! Everything else is just paper!!  I find that Graphic 45's designs allow for lots of "fussy cutting" - which I personally find very relaxing, and I LOVE the results!!

Here is my layout - and some close ups for you too!

I used 3D Foam Tape to add depth to some of the fussy cut elements and layered them on top of each other.

So - Click on some of the links below- and head on over to the My Little Scrapbook Store - where you can purchase this beautiful collection, in a HAPPY SCRAPPY BAG - along with some FUN Nuvo Products too!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope I've inspired you to do a little "fussy cutting" too! Have FUN!

Challenge YOUrself #58 - "One World Trade"

Hello everyone!  It is time for a really FUN and CREATIVE Challenge over at the Challenge YOUrself Blog!  This month, we are asking you to "Make your own background" and as always, to include YOU in a photo on your layout!

Below is my take on the challenge.  Most of the papers used on this layout are from the Kaisercraft Stargazer Collection - from My Little Scrapbook Store.  I added the "pop" of yellow patterned paper for contrast, and to coordinate with the yellow color of the lights in the photo.
For the background, I started with a plain white piece of cardstock, I placed a stencil over it - and sprayed it with 2 colors of Glimmer Mist.  The stencil had  sharp angles on it ( you can see that on the bottom right,) but when I was done spraying, I didn't want to "waste" the spray that was still on the stencil, so I turned it over and kind of "smushed" it on the page.  It gave it a whole new look, and I am very pleased with how it came out!
Here you can see part of the stencil, and the lovely shimmer I couldn't let go to waste.  I also splattered some black India Ink on the background as well.

We spent a very emotional and moving day in NYC with our Disney Cruise friends Melodie, and Kimberly, who were visiting over Thanksgiving weekend last year.  It was our first trip to the National 911 Museum.

Love using the new Nuvo Crystal Drops on my layouts - so much fun!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope you will join in on this creative challenge at the Challenge YOUrself Blog - Stop by the blog to check out more inspiration from our talented Design Team!
I can't wait to see what you create!

SOS October Blend-a-Sketch "SING" Challenge "Koala Love!"

Hi there Scrappy Friends  - It is time for the October Blend-a-Sketch Challenge over at the Scrap Our Stash Blog!  This month your Inspiration Prompt is the Movie "SING" and the added Challenge is to add some BLING to your layout.
I was inspired by the animals in the movie - in particular the cute Koala.  I had photos of Koala's from our July 2011 family trip to the San Diego Zoo, and I knew I wanted to use them for this challenge.  I also used some of my favorite BLING - Jillibean Soup Wood Sparkles - that I've had I my stash for a very long time!

Here is my layout for your inspiration:

Here you cans see one of the Wooden Sparkles and the leaf ribbon that I have had in my stash forever!

I fussy cut the leaves out of a  scrap piece of G45 Tropical Travelog paper that I just couldn't throw away.  I also highlighted the leaves with a green Wink of Stella Glitter brush.

Here is a close up of some more bling and the butterfly embellishment I've had forever - along with the Chipboard ZOO sign from BoBunny's Zoology Collection.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope you can find some "YOU" time and can play along with us this at the SCRAP OUR STASH BLOG this month!  I look forward to seeing your creations!
