Make it Sparkle - Challenge #17 - "Do All the Things!"

I can't tell you how much I LOVE Vicki Boutin's Color Study Collection!!  I used it to create this layout for the My Little Scrapbook Store's Online Crop this month, and took on Challenge #17, "Make it Sparkle"

You can check out the replay of my process video from my Facebook Live by clicking HERE.  I also share a few other mixed media layouts using lots of sequins for your inspiration! ( please bear with me at the beginning of the video - I hope I don't make you dizzy! LOL!)

Here are some close ups for you - don't be afraid to use up those sequins!! You've probably got a bunch and new ones are coming out every day!!  You can find some here at the My Little Scrapbook Store too!

60 Years of Love!

Hello Scrappy Friends,
Here is my take on 2 FUN Facebook Challenges -

Here is my take on the 2 challenges - I've scrapped 2 photos of my parents at a special dinner we had, while away on a wonderful weekend to celebrate their 60th Wedding Anniversary.
If you look closely at the photos, you can see the buttons I had made for them to wear with their wedding photo on them!

I love this beautiful Simple Stories Ancestry Collection and thought it worked perfectly for these photos!!

For the MLSS Recipe Challenge - I used: Nuvo Drops, Mixed Media, Floral Patterned Paper, Puffy Stickers and Inked Edges.
For the DAF #4 "Celebration" Challenge - I used a photo of my wonderful parent's Anniversary celebration, a yellow base page and yellow flowers and embellishments - and also 3 fun pieces of DAF FLAIR!

Here are a few photos showing how I created the base page:
I used a stencil from Little Birdie Studios with a script design

I sprayed it with 3 Ranger Distress Oxide Sprays - Vintage Photo, Speckled Egg, Crackling Campfire.  I wasn't happy with how it left the big rectangle, so I took the stencil that still had the wet spray on the top of it, spritzed it with a little water, and used the smoosh technique over the rectangle.

I also added a few more spritz of the Oxide sprays, and a few splatters too. I then cleaned the stencil and used Black Soot Ink and added the black script here and there.

Here is where I started to design the layout and see where I wanted to place the photos.  I distressed and inked the edges of the double mats on the base page and the smaller photo.

Here are some close ups for you:

I really appreciate you stopping by and am thankful if you've read this post to this point!  I hope I've inspired you to play along with both challenges and I'd love it if you would leave me a comment and let me know where you are from - and how you are doing!

My Little Scrapbook Store - February "L-O-V-E" Challenge

Hello everyone - I want to share my Design Team Inspiration layout for the My Little Scrapbook Store's February monthly challenge -

Here are the rules and all the info you need about the challenge - Be sure to join us over on the My Little Scrapbook Store's Facebook page to add you entry and to check out all of the great inspiration the rest of the Design Team will be sharing!

My layout is about my oldest son Nick. We took a trip to the Lake George area for a family vacation with my parents in November - we were supposed to be on a cruise to Bermuda that week - but Covid had other plans.  Instead we rented a beautiful log home on a calm river, and Nick decided to take out one of the canoes they had for us to use.  Of course I LOVE him and I am so proud of him and the wonderful man he has become!

For the challenge letters - I used:

L - Leaves, Layering, Leafy Stencil
O - Orange  (Cardstock, Paper Glaze and Spray)
V- Vines (cut with my Cricut)
E - Enamel Dots and English Ivy Spray

Here are some close ups  - I used the Ranger Dina Wakley Media Stencil "Leafy" on the base page, with Picket Fence "Marigold Orange" Paper Glaze

I hope you find time to play along with us at the Facebook Group, and have some fun doing some shopping at the My Little Scrapbook Store, -  I can't wait to see what you create!

My Little Scrapbook Store Monthly Challenge -Jan 2021 "Goals"

Hi Everyone - It is time for the January Challenge over at the My Little Scrapbook Store's - Scrapbooking Layouts and More! Facebook page.

How to play along?  Head on over to the January 2021 Challenge Facebook Post - Check out all of the inspiration the Design Team will be posting in the comments - showing you all of our different interpertations of the Challenge - Then CREATE your layout about ANY GOAL(s) you may have for this year - (they do not have to be scrapbook related,) and post it in the comments and feel free to let us know what your goal(s) are too!

You have until February 5th to play along and be eligible for a randomly drawn
 $10.00 MLSS Gift Certificate!

Here is my take on the challenge:

My Goals in 2021 are to use my Cricut more, and to use more mixed media on my layouts!  I've had a Cricut Explore Air 2 for a few years and have maybe used it 5 times!!  I'm going to watch some YouTube Videos and get more comfortable using it. I also have all these beautiful sprays and glimmer and glitter pastes and a ton of stencils that I want to use to add the mixed media vibe to my layouts too!  In this layout - I cut the snowflake die-cut using my Cricut, and splattered some mists, as well added some shimmer to the wooden snowflakes with Picket Fence Paper Glaze.

My layout captures a memory from just last month, a few days after we added our 3rd dog into our family. Sugar is (2) -she is the white dog in the middle and she joins our Tino(7), on the left, and Maggie (9) on the right. They are all Portuguese Water Dogs - but when it snows - they become Snow Dogs - they love it and had a blast playing together!
Here are some close ups for you:

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope I've inspired you to play along with me and the rest of the Design Team at the MLSS Facebook Group!

Give THANKS take 5 Challenge for My Little Scrapbook Store

Hi Everyone - I want to share a layout I made for the My Little Scrapbook Store's Monthly Challenge!

This month the challenge was to use an item associated with the word THANKS. They challenged you to incorporate the following items in your layout :

Here is my entry for the challenge:

Something "New" - is the base page from the Reminisce "Great Britain" Collection I've had forever and have never used or opened! I am so happy with how it worked for this fun challenge!

Here are 2 of the challenge items: Tag, and Stamping (the date)

Here is the back of the tag with the "K" challenge -handwritten journaling.

I used the word "Hello" for the H challenge. The arrow is chipboard that I stained to match the blues and oranges in the base page - and it points to Westminster Abbey, where the photos were taken.

I used a strip of Acetate Film Strip from the Kaisercraft "Let's Go" Collection that I purchased from MLSS!

Thanks for stopping by!  Be Well, Stay Safe and Wear Your Masks!
((HUGS)) ~ Sherri

Reminisce - Great Britain Collection - "Westminster"
Kaisercraft - Let's Go Collection - "Cities" "Bag Tags" "Fly Away Acetate"
Ranger Distress Stains - Ripe Persimmon, Blue Print Sketch, Hickory Smoke, Tarnished Brass.

Graduation! SOS's September ABC-123 Challenge

Hello everyone!  I hope you and your families are doing well in these strange and crazy times!

I hope you can escape and join in the Scrap Our Stash Blog's September Challenge!!

I have 2 grown "boys" so I chose a few photos of our youngest son's Graduation for my take on the challenge.

1 word title - Graduation

2 photos

3 of the same embellishments - I chose to triple that - 3 Stars, 3 Brads and 3 hearts

Here are some close ups for you - I used lots of scraps of black and white papers that I save all together in my stash. I also used a star stencil and added some stars in the background.

I hope you like my take on this fun challenge and that you will play along with us at the Scrap Our Stash Blog this month!  Head on over to see lots more inspiration from the rest of the the Design Team, as well as see the challenge rules and prize info!

Take care and be well ~ (((HUGS)) ~ Sherri
