Hello Scrappy Friends!

It’s been a while since I posted!  I will try to keep up with posting layouts for your inspiration!

I am participating in a Fun Blog and YouTube Hop with my fellow Design Team Members over at the My Little Scrapbook Store!

So, I will share the layout that I created of my sweet grand niece Serena. She was having fun playing with toys and water outside, and I just love her smile!!   I used the beautiful Sun Chaser Collection from Heidi Swapp - you can find yours in the STORE - HERE!!  I used the base page as my inspiration, and added stickers, diecuts, tags and foam stickers based on the color of the base page

I also added a yellow heart paperclip from the Paige Evan's Splendid Collection, and a Vicki Boutin Title and some stickers and foam embellishments that I had in my stash!

Here is my layout and some close ups for you - 

I love layering different pattern papers on top of each other, and adding texture with fun Fringe Scissors, paper tearing and inking with Distress Oxide Inks! I used Black Soot to add an outline to the different patterns, and along the edges of the base page too!

SOS August Challenge "Summer's Biggest Fan"

Happy August everyone!  It's time for the first challenge of the month from the Scrap Our Stash Blog!

I hope you and yours are keeping cool - and we would like to see how you are doing that!

Your challenge is to create a layout showing a summer activity where you or someone else is trying to keep cool! - ALSO - you must include a Sun Embellishment - or Sun Patterned paper!

Here is my Design Team inspiration layout for you -

I used Echo Park's "Good Day Sunshine" collection to document how our 8 yr old Portuguese Water Dog - "Princess Magdalena of the Sea" - AKA - Maggie - keeps cool in the summer heat!

She loves hanging outside and snoozing in her favorite spot on the sofa - while the fan is blowing in her direction to keep her cool!

Happy Independence Day everyone! When I think of SUMMER I immediately think of my "Happy Place"  - our Gazebo, outside on our deck.  It is so relaxing, kind of like our outdoor living room!  My favorite SUMMER Place!

July Challenge YOUrself "Summer Waves" Sketch

Happy July everyone!!  Can you believe we are more than half way through 2016, and in the second month of summer here on the east coast!   Well, The Challenge YOUrself Blog is keeping with the summer theme for this month's challenge!  Please use the sketch below for your JULY Challenge inspiration, and be sure to include a photo of YOU and a summer theme, when creating your layout too!   All challenge rules and PRIZE info can be found on The Challenge YOUrself BLOG too!

Below is the layout I created for the Design Team, and your inspiration. They are photos of me in the ocean, on a summer vacation, back in 2009.  We rented a house on the beach, at North Topsail Beach,  NC.  The ocean was just so calm and beautiful, and we had a wonderful time.  We hope to go back there someday soon!

I used some old papers I've had in my stash forever - trying to match the blues and greens from the ocean.  The seashell were actually collected along the beach there. One of my favorite beach activities is to walk along the shoreline and collect shells.  We also found sharks teeth along this beach too - but I didn't include them in my layout!

I created the paint pearls by following the swirls on the base page, using Nuvo Crystal Drops - Caribbean Ocean, Ranger Liquid Pearls - Key Lime - they are both so much fun!!

Summer Memories Sketch #419 Scrapbook Challenges Blog

It has been very chilly here in NJ, so it must mean winter is really on the way!  

I decided to ignore that fact for a little while longer and use some summer photos for my DT Layout for
SCRAPBOOK CHALLENGES.

First here is the VERY FUN Sketch #419

Why do I say it is "FUN" - well, if you don't know by now, I LOVE mixing up patterns and textures, and this sketch is perfect for it and allowed me to do it -in a very big way- as you can see in my layout below, using photos from our 2013 vacation to North Topsail Beach, NC

One of the things I love about doing sketches is that I try to use up the "STUFF" I have in my stash, and this sketch is FULL of all kinds of "STUFF!" 

I used paper, stickers and chipboard from the Creative Imaginations Tidepools Collection by Christine Adolph - that I bought at my Local Scrapbook Store  SCRAP-A-DOODLE DOO, (quite a few years ago I'm thinking!)  I added some netting, paper yarn for the banners, seashells and even some Beach Glass Mud Puddles under the shells on the bottom left of the page.

On this close up, you can also see how I decided to make my banners out of circles that I folded over, and stapled to some paper yarn, and created a sparkly layer behind the first layer of circles to make them "pop!"  ( I think they kind of make the banner look like mermaid scales -well sort of - kind of...??)

More sparkly fun was had with a little misting!  Notice the Trunk Bay Glimmer Mist that I sprayed on the manila title and the tag I used for journaling?  I also gave the base page a few sprays before adding the photos and embellishments too!

Oh, speaking of the tag, I actually created a "Pocket" for it, by leaving the top of the bottom left base patterned paper open, so I could slide the tag in it.  This is a cool way of hiding journaling in a layout.  It doesn't take away from the layout design, and hides your handwriting if you don't really like it. It also allows you to write on the front and back - so you can save your thoughts and memories of the time / photos used in your layout!

We will be making a Mini Album that will be perfect for your summer photos -(new ones, or the ones you've had stashed in your drawer -or, if you are like me -are still in your camera!! LOL!!)

The album measures 6" x 6" and is filled with pockets, pull outs and 12 pages for you to add photos of your adventure in "Paradise" ~ wherever that may be!

We will be using the NEW KAISERCRAFT "Rock Pool" collection - the colors are AMAZING - along with seashells, beach glass and fishing net! Techniques will include "fussy cutting," paper scoring, edge distressing with Ranger Distress Stain, pocket making, plus I will show you how you can make the most out of your paper by using your "scraps" in a unique way to embellish you book to the MAX!!

MORE SNEAK PEEKS - added JUNE 11th!!

Here are two of the inside pages - showing one of the pockets and pull outs on the right side.  The pull out opens up to allow you to place photos on the inside - and on the back if you would like. The sentiment card on the left page can also be used as a photo mat, of you need more places for photos - or if the saying just doesn't fit with your photos.

Another Sneak Peek of  tow more of the 12 inside pages -   the page on the left shows some fussy cutting ( Octopus "legs") that you can slide your photo right underneath.  Again - use the right side of the page as is -or add a photo if you'd like!
