Say Cheese!

Here is a 2 page layout I made at my weekend get-a-way Scrap-a-DoodleDoo Crop!  I've been holding on to this pictures for a little while - can't believe almost 2 years have gone by since they were taken - I LOVE the Handsome Men in my life!

I had 2 pieces of Cosmo Cricket Wanted papers - Kissin' Kate and Calamity Jane, that I've been holding onto for a while - I paired them up with a piece of the New wood veneer "paper" ( left layout) that I distress inked - with Ranger's Rusty Hinge( I think) - I colored the clear rhinestones on the parts of the Prima Swirl and the word "Together" with Terracotta Alcohol Inks by Ranger - LOVE THEM!

There is a piece of torn and Glimmer Misted ( can't create without the stuff!) corrugated cardboard on the bottom left layout that I've been carrying around since I used the other side of it on my FAMILY canvas back in January - I think it found the perfect home!

The Close to My Heart Chipboard numbers 2008 -covered easily with Ranger's copper Ink Dauber Paint - along with the cardboard from the Prima Flower pack - can you spot it?? ( Hint - left Layout) - ( Yes - I am a "Scrapper" that is why it is called Scrapbooking - is it not?? LOL!!

Here are some close ups:             Doesn't the wood look great with the distress ink on the edges!
Lovin' the Lace at the bottom too! - I think it is Prima's -so so pretty!

You can see how pretty the paper is - I think it goes so well with the colors in the photos too!

We were all dressed up and on our way to my Grandmother's 90th Birthday Surprise Tea Party!
Phil had just come out of the hospital the day before after having hernia surgery - He looks pretty good don't you think!

All of the stamped words are from a really cool Close to My Heart Stamp set - called Picture Perfect - Love what they added to the layout!

There's that Prima Packaging too! I put a piece of paper behind it to peek through the cut outs on the chipboard  - Reduce - Reuse - Recycle - I'm doing my part - and having fun doing it! LOL!

Scrapbook Etc. All About Me Challenge

The Challenge was "All Abut Me" - as scrapbookers (me included) don't usually scrapbook ourselves this took me "out of the box" and my comfort zone a little. (I do like the picture - especially since my son Jake took it!)

BUT - I decided to have fun with this layout  - and, as I am sure you can tell - it is all about COLOR, TEXTURE and STUFF!  - LOTS of my Favorite Things!

Glimmer Mist - My "Elixir of Life" ( Lime Twist, Tiger Lily, Deep Purple and Pashmina) appears on the chipboard letters, date slide, and on the deep purple paper towel flower, lots of Prima Flowers, some Adirondack Alcohol Inks on the word DREAM and on the IMAGINE tag in lots of FUN colors!

Notice the Age on the title-well there is no hiding it - it is what it is -BUT-the little tag on the last number says "and holding"-- & I think I strategically placed it on the number so it kind of looks more like a "0" than a "9" - don't 'cha think?? LOL!! -

Like I said - I did have fun and I think I'd like to teach a class in the future to "allow" others to give themselves the opportunity and permission to scrap and record what is important to them,  or their favorite things when the photo that they use was taken.

Watch for info on a class in the future!

NY State of Mind...

"In New York
Concrete jungle where dreams are made of,
There's nothing you can't do,
Now you're in New York,
These streets will make you feel brand new,
The lights will inspire you,
Let's here it for New York, New York, New York...."

Here is a canvas that I will be selling to a friend who "commissioned me" to make it for her to give as a gift.
Her requirements were - "not too big"  ( it is 12"x12") Blacks, Red, Silver & Bling -a place for a 4 x 6" photo.

I "painted' the canvas with Ranger Distress Inks - Fired Brick and Black Soot + water, then mixed black acrylic paint and Ranger silver distress crackle paint in with Gesso, which I applied over the top of Glimmer Screens in the 2 corners.  I removed the stencils and let it dry very well. Then I sprayed the canvas and the cardboard heart that I had peeled with Red Velvet and Raven Glimmer Mist, and I sprayed the NY paper with Graphite.

So - here is what I came up with:

I LOVE all of the textures and layers on this canvas - the Prima Black Swirls, the antique buttons, the small glass beads and glitter - the raised layer of the Gesso mixed with paint, the shiny yet cracked (Ranger Distress crackle paint in Silver on the  NYC chipboard letters, the softness of the red Webster's Pages ribbon flowers, the grungy look of the peeled corrugated cardboard heart, the bling of the  Jolie's Statue of Liberty that I painted with Silver Smooch as it was Gold and Black, and I needed to make it Silver and Black!

I hope she likes it --- Please leave a comment and let me know if you like it too!

Sneak Peek - Upcoming Class at Scrap-a-Doodle-Doo

Good morning everyone!  I am so excited - as I am getting ready to attend another wonderful weekend Crop this weekend - hosted by my friends at Scrap-a-Doodle-Doo this weekend!  Can't wait!

Speaking of cropping......

I had a great time actually scrapping on Saturday - while others ran the All Day Crop in Fair Lawn, that I use to host -- Amanda and Michele - you did a great job!  Can't wait for the next one!

AND....Since I was able to sit and create.......

I made this beautiful layout - using GRAPHIC 45's "On the Boardwalk" papers!  LOVE LOVE LOVE this line - the colors are soo great together!!  You don't even have to have vintage photos for these pages - I think any photo of the beach or summer - printed in black & white or even sepia would look AWESOME!

Besides this beautiful paper line - this 2 page layout is FILLED with lots of cool goodies!!

  • Prima flowers - sprayed with Frozen Lake and Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Mist ( of course!)
  • Spiral flowers made out of old dictionary pages and sprayed with Glimmer Mist too!
  • 3D effects
  • Distressing
  • Chalking
  • Prima Swirls
  • There is even a "pocket" where you add 3 postcard tags too!
So - WATCH for more pics, and info on the DATE when I'll be holding a CLASS where you can make this beautiful 2 page layout - just in time for summer! I'll be teaching  this class at :

I had a GREAT time teaching at my "Dream Big" canvas class tonight at Scrap-a-Doodle-Doo!
There were 6 students - and what a nice bunch of ladies they were!
They made some BEAUTIFUL ART!

Ladies you should all be very proud of yourselves! You ALL did an AWESOME JOB!
I hope everyone had a great time - and I Thank you all for the opportunity!

Now it is time to pack up my scrap "stuff" so I can ATTEND - not host - an All Day Crop tomorrow!

Yes, I am STILL and OFFICIAL MEMBER of the "OPC" - Over Packer's Club!

I just never know what I'm in "the mood" to do - so I just bring most everything - ( well, not really "most" everything - as I would have to pack 3 cars if that was really the case!) but I know for sure I won't touch 2/3rds of what I am bringing - but - ya' just never know!

Looking forward to a Great Crop tomorrow!

Have a WONDERFUL Weekend everyone!

Thank goodness I have an AMAZING Hubby who puts up with all of this!  Phil - you are the best!

I'll try to post again sooner - as I am working on another class I want to teach at Scrap-a-Doodle-Doo using Graphic 45's Boardwalk collection -- OH - and I've been "commissioned" to create a canvas for a friend - with the theme - NEW YORK -- I'm itching to get this one going - lots of cool ideas going on in my head!
