Challenge YOUrself Blog #97 - "Team Turkey"

Hello everyone!!  Happy New Year!! Wishing YOU and your families a very Happy and Healthy 2022!
It is time for the first Challenge of the year from the Challenge YOUrself Blog!! Below are the details:

This was a fun challenge and I used a photo of my wonderful Dad and I from this past Thanksgiving.
2021 was a very difficult year for my family, with my husband's heart attack in August, but we are blessed with his continued healing and improvement. We had SO MUCH to be THANKFUL for this Thanksgiving!

Here is my Design Team inspiration layout for you:

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday!  I love hosting it and cooking all of our traditional favorite foods. Dad and I are always "in charge" of the Thanksgiving Turkey. I cook it and he carves it!
Hear are a few close ups for you:
I fussy cut a bunch of leaves from one of the papers in the collection, and matted some of the stickers on a brown cardstock. I inked all of the edges of the papers and embellishments.

I used 3 pieces of Flair from Dotty About Flair on the page and added some fuzzy fiber behind and around them. You can also see how I splattered the Ranger Distress Sprays over the layout, before adding my photo. I love the way that technique looks, and it is fun to do too!

Here you can see 2 more pieces of DAF Flair, along with the journaling card I have tucked in the pocket I made behind the photo.

I love adding a pocket behind my photos to create a place for hidden journaling and an added layer of depth.

I am also entering this layout in the Dotty About Flair Facebook December Happy Holidays Dec 30th Challenge "All about the Papers" - using a sketch, at least 8 papers/cardstock, Teal, Black and Butterflies.

Thanks so much for stopping by - I hope you join in on the Challenge YOUrself Challenge and can't wait to see what you create!

Cocoa Vanilla "Daydream" ~ Together

 Hello Scrappy Friends!!
I want to share a layout I made for Dotty About Flair's December 7th Challenge - the prompts are Banners, Stars, Cut File (or Die Cuts.) I made the BANNER using baker's twine and some paper embellishments.

I used the beautiful Cocoa Vanilla "Daydream" Collection to scrapbook a photo of my hubby and I when we were in Massachusetts.  If you missed out on this beautiful collection, you can click on the link in the name above, to grab some before it is all gone!!

For the STARS I used the fun Vicki Boutin Flower Stencil along with her Creativefx Gold Glaze. I really think they look like Starbursts don't you?!

Here are some close ups for you:
Here is a close up of the Banner and the stenciled Stars - and some Die Cuts too! I also splattered some Ranger Distress Spray on the layout too!

I used lots of DIE CUTS from this beautiful collection.

and of course - I added the perfect colored piece of Dotty About Flair too!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
I hope I've inspired you to create and play along!

60 Years of Love!

Hello Scrappy Friends,
Here is my take on 2 FUN Facebook Challenges -

Here is my take on the 2 challenges - I've scrapped 2 photos of my parents at a special dinner we had, while away on a wonderful weekend to celebrate their 60th Wedding Anniversary.
If you look closely at the photos, you can see the buttons I had made for them to wear with their wedding photo on them!

I love this beautiful Simple Stories Ancestry Collection and thought it worked perfectly for these photos!!

For the MLSS Recipe Challenge - I used: Nuvo Drops, Mixed Media, Floral Patterned Paper, Puffy Stickers and Inked Edges.
For the DAF #4 "Celebration" Challenge - I used a photo of my wonderful parent's Anniversary celebration, a yellow base page and yellow flowers and embellishments - and also 3 fun pieces of DAF FLAIR!

Here are a few photos showing how I created the base page:
I used a stencil from Little Birdie Studios with a script design

I sprayed it with 3 Ranger Distress Oxide Sprays - Vintage Photo, Speckled Egg, Crackling Campfire.  I wasn't happy with how it left the big rectangle, so I took the stencil that still had the wet spray on the top of it, spritzed it with a little water, and used the smoosh technique over the rectangle.

I also added a few more spritz of the Oxide sprays, and a few splatters too. I then cleaned the stencil and used Black Soot Ink and added the black script here and there.

Here is where I started to design the layout and see where I wanted to place the photos.  I distressed and inked the edges of the double mats on the base page and the smaller photo.

Here are some close ups for you:

I really appreciate you stopping by and am thankful if you've read this post to this point!  I hope I've inspired you to play along with both challenges and I'd love it if you would leave me a comment and let me know where you are from - and how you are doing!

Mixed Media Frenzy Scraplift

Hello Scrappy Friends!!
While I am not active on Youtube, I hope to one day start adding process videos...... we will see!

This is the beautiful layout we are all using as inspiration
- it was created by a blogger named Melania

And here is my layout I created for the Hop
- Scraplifting Melania's beautiful layout as inspiration:

I used a photo of my husband and on, from a trip to Gloucester, MA, in 2019.  I used the Prisma App to create the "painted look" for the photo and thought it would work perfect for this Fun, Messy, Mixed Media Hop!
I started with a piece of Vicki Boutin's Foundation paper -
I used the "kiss" technique and splatter technique with Ranger Distress Oxide Inks in Ketch Flamingo and Salvaged Patina to create the base page.
I used Vicki's Storyteller papers
- Moonbeams and Simple Things, along with some Stickers from the collection.
I also used Vicki's "Color Study's" Collection -
Blueberry Sour Textured Paste, and a small circle stencil from the collection.
I used Tim Holtz's Ideaology Ruler stencil too
- with Ranger Distress Ink in Black Soot on both stencils.
Embellishments included Vicki's Chipboard Thickers from her "Let's Wander" Collection, along with Cocoa Vanilla's Love Always butterfly flair.  The sparkly gold hearts are Maggie Holmes Garden Party Resin Gold Hearts. Finally some white thread and sequins here and there!

Here are some close ups for you:

I hope you enjoyed my "Scraplift" on the inspiration layout - Check out the Mixed Media Frenzy's Facebook Page for more Fun and Messy inspiration too!

SOS - Sketch Challenge - "Chicago Pizza Tour"

Hello Everyone - I hope this post finds you all doing well!
It is time for this month's Sketch Challenge over at the Scrap Our Stash Blog
We encourage you to play along with us, using the sketch below as your inspiration - and also be sure to use KRAFT PAPER and at least ONE METAL EMBELLISHMENT!!

I decided to scrap a few photos that were taken at the beginning of February - while on a Chicago Pizza Tour, during a sales meeting that I planned for the new company I work for.
Everyone had a great time, and it was a great team building event. We took a beautiful luxury bus to 3 different famous pizza restaurants in Chicago along with a great guide who told us all about each location, pizza facts, and info about Chicago.  If you are ever in Chicago - be sure to check out Chicago Pizza Tours!!  The photos in this layout are from our visit to Flo and Santo's  - famous for their thin crust pizza.  It was really good -but they cut their round pies into squares in Chicago -  very different than the way we do it in New Jersey!

For my base page, I used a piece of Kraft Resist Paper, from a 12x12 pad of Tim Holtz Idea-ology, that I have had forever!!  I then used a TWC Mini Brick Stencil, along with a Nuvo brush and Taylored Expressions Earl Grey Ink to create the brick design in all 4 corners of the layout.   I also used it to ink all of the edges of my papers, including the torn ones -
I like how it all came out.
Here are the sales team members who attended the meeting  - It was so great to be able to put faces to names and voices! Everyone was so nice, and the Pizza Tour was really a hit!
I created a little tag with journaling to tuck behind the photo of the group.
Here is the back of the tag and you can see the metal brads that I added for the challenge.
You can also see the splatters of Glimmer Mist that I used.
More metal brads some FUN metal Flair, and those cool inked/distressed edges!
(and those square pieces of pizza too! LOL!)
I used different types and fonts of letters for my title.  I love how it turned out!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you can find some time to escape and play along with us this month at the Scrap Our Stash Blog!  Head on over there to see more inspiration from the other Design Team members, Contest Rules, Prize Info and where you can link up your layout too!

April SOS Saturday Cartoon and Sketch "CareBear" Challenge "#friends"

This months Saturday Cartoon / Sketch Challenge from the Scrap Our Stash Blog gives you LOTS of options!
You get to choose the Color and Symbol of the CareBear of your choice and include that color and an embellishment or patterned with the symbol on the bear's chest!

I chose the PINK "Love-a-Lot" Bear, who's symbol is 2 Hearts!
I picked a photo of a Girl's Day Out in NYC to see the Mickey Exhibit - and kept the color palette to PINK, Black and White!

We are all BIG Mickey and Disney fans and had so much FUN!

Here are some close ups for you!

I used 2 + hearts

The base page just had a bunch of plan intersecting circles and I doodled on all of them to match the doodling on the patterned paper I used.

I hope I've inspired you to play along with us this month at the Scrap Our Stash Blog!
Give it a try - you'll have a blast!

June Challenge YOUrself #54 "Party Girl"

Since June is my Birthday Month, I decided to use photos of me at Birthday Parties, for this month's challenge over at the Challenge YOUrself Blog.  Not only do you have to include a photo of YOU in your layout, this month's challenge is to use 2 photos of YOU
- one as a child, and one as an adult!

I found some old photos that my Mom had given me from when I was little.  The photo on the left is from one of the many great birthday parties my Mom always had for me when growing up. I am not sure about the year or how old I was, but my guess is around 7 ?
The other photo is of me and my husband and brothers and sister-in-laws,
celebrating my brother in law's 60th birthday.

I will always be a "Party Girl!" LOL!
I have been dying to use this awesome new paper pack "Paprika" from PhotoPlay!
I just think it is so much FUN!  I hope you like it!

Here are some close ups for you:
