Nacho Tuesday - Challenge YOUrself #88

Hi everyone, It is time for April's challenge from over a the Challenge YOUrself Blog. This month we would like you to chose a letter and use it on your layout. For example, if you chose P, use paint, pearls, etc and a word that starts with P in your title and remember to include YOU in one of your photos!

Here is my take on the challenge - documenting a fun family memory from our "Covid-19 Vacation" last November. I selected the letter "T" to capture our "Nacho Tuesday" Dinner!
I used: Tiny Alphas, the letter T in my title, Tearing, Twine, Twisted Citron Distress Oxide Spray and Distress Stain, Tattered Angels Spray, Tarnished Brass Distress Stain, a Tag and washi Tape.

Our cruise to Bermuda was canceled so we rented a beautiful log home in New York State, near Lake George.  We had a great time, relaxing and getting away with our family and our dogs.

Here are some close ups for you:
I love the Vintage Great Escape collection from Simple Stories - I used a piece of mixed media paper from Vicki Boutin's Let's Wander collection - that had gold circles that were filled in with green paint. I made gold circles on the Simple Stories layers and painted green and blue distress oxide spray.

Here you can see some more of those circles and also the tag that I created behind one of the photos.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope I've inspired you to play along with us this month
- and I can't wait to see what YOU create!
Head on over to the Challenge YOUrself Blog for more inspiration from the rest of the Design Team, Prize Info, and the Link to add your layout!

Challenge YOUrself #86 Celebrate "LOVE" February Challenge

Hi everyone!  Happy February!  I truly hope you and your family are doing well.  It is time for this month's Challenge over at the Challenge YOUrself Blog!  This month - we encourage you to Celebrate LOVE! - and remember to include YOUrself in one of your photos!

Here is my Design Team inspiration layout for you:

I made this layout using lots of stuff from Vicki Boutin's "Storyteller" Collection from the My Little Scrapbook Store, and a photo from my birthday dinner, with my hubby, (and our family,) at our favorite Chinese restaurant back in 2017 -All things that I LOVE.  We always have a great dinner there and look forward to indoor restaurant dining again someday...

I got back into using my sprays- new and old and had fun getting my “mixed media” mojo back in the groove! I also enjoy “fussy cutting” some people are not fans of it - but I find it so relaxing and love how it enhances my layouts! What about you? Do you enjoy fussy cutting?

Here are some close-ups and a few photos of when I sprayed the base page before assembling for you:

I am also entering this layout in the My Little Scrapbook Store Winter Wonderland Crop Mixed Media Challenge #10

I hope you find some time to play along with us at the Challenge YOUrself BLOG this month!  I look forward to seeing what YOU create!

Challenge YOUrself #58 - "One World Trade"

Hello everyone!  It is time for a really FUN and CREATIVE Challenge over at the Challenge YOUrself Blog!  This month, we are asking you to "Make your own background" and as always, to include YOU in a photo on your layout!

Below is my take on the challenge.  Most of the papers used on this layout are from the Kaisercraft Stargazer Collection - from My Little Scrapbook Store.  I added the "pop" of yellow patterned paper for contrast, and to coordinate with the yellow color of the lights in the photo.
For the background, I started with a plain white piece of cardstock, I placed a stencil over it - and sprayed it with 2 colors of Glimmer Mist.  The stencil had  sharp angles on it ( you can see that on the bottom right,) but when I was done spraying, I didn't want to "waste" the spray that was still on the stencil, so I turned it over and kind of "smushed" it on the page.  It gave it a whole new look, and I am very pleased with how it came out!
Here you can see part of the stencil, and the lovely shimmer I couldn't let go to waste.  I also splattered some black India Ink on the background as well.

We spent a very emotional and moving day in NYC with our Disney Cruise friends Melodie, and Kimberly, who were visiting over Thanksgiving weekend last year.  It was our first trip to the National 911 Museum.

Love using the new Nuvo Crystal Drops on my layouts - so much fun!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope you will join in on this creative challenge at the Challenge YOUrself Blog - Stop by the blog to check out more inspiration from our talented Design Team!
I can't wait to see what you create!

"Puppy Love" SOS January "Tic Tac Toe Challenge"

Happy 2017 everyone!
It is time for a Brand New Challenge from the
Scrap Our Stash Blog!

I am so happy to be returning as a DT member of this very talented Scrap Our Stash Team, and providing inspiration for this AWESOME Challenge Blog!

This month, we have a Tic Tac Toe Stash Challenge, for your creative pleasure!  Just pick any 3 blocks in a row, across, up and down, or diagonally, and use those items from your "stash" in your layout!  This was lots of FUN, and I hope you join us and show us your creativity this month too!
Here is the Challenge:

And here is my take on, using Paint/Mist, 5+ Patterned Papers and Twine, from the 3 left vertical blocks!

I call this layout "Puppy Love" These are our 2 Portuguese Waterdogs, Valentino on the left, and Maggie on the right - laying nose to nose!  I used lots of "stuff" from BoBunny's "Happy Tails" collection.  The base page has been in my "stash" forever - the paw prints are raised and have a little glitter.

Here you can see the "twine" that I staples on using my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher. You can also count the 5+ pattern papers, and the shiny heart was sprayed with Red Glimmer Mist, and then glazed.

I also sprayed this wooden "Heidi Swapp" hello title with red Glimmer Mist, and glazed it as well.  Love that cute washi tape that I've also had for some time!

Here is a close up of my sweet pups.  Tino on the left is all black with a wavy coat.  He is 2 years old.  His "big sister" Maggie is black and white with a curly coat. She is 4 yrs old.

I love lots of layers and patterns! I inked all of the torn edges with Ranger Distress stains.

Another close up of the torn and inked edges, along with the enamel and gem embellishments.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you will play along with us this month at the Scrap Our Stash Blog!

Wishing you and your family a very Happy and Healthy 2017, filled with ONLY Good "Stuff!"

I AM THANKFUL! November Challenge YOUrself Blog Inspiration

Happy November everyone!   It is time for this month's challenge over at the Challenge YOUrself Blog.  With this month being the month we celebrate Thanksgiving, your inspiration is the word "THANKFUL."
As an added challenge, you must use a banner somewhere on your page, and as always, one of the photos on your layout must be of YOU!

Here is my take on the challenge.  I decided to scrap "Someone" and "Something" I am so THANKFUL for!  This photo was taken of my husband and I on the Disney Panama Canal cruise we took together this past May.

The "Someone" I am THANKFUL for is my husband, best friend, and love of my life - Phil.  We were high school sweethearts and celebrated being together for 40 years while on the cruise! (How is that even possible??!!)

The "Something" I am THANKFUL for are the many adventures we have been blessed to share together, the amazing places we have visited, and the wonderful friendships we have made with people from all over the country and all over the world, while sailing on Disney Cruise Line.  This was our 9th Disney cruise, since our first one in 2001, and I look forward to continuing to make more memories aboard our favorite ships together.

I love how this layout turned out!  Scrapping a large 8x10" photo can be challenging for me, since it takes up so much of the page. I do love a good challenge though!
I added the button with the starfish as I think it kind of brings in the cruising theme.  The flower was white - I sprayed it with Gold and Black Glimmer Mist.

Here is the banner I made with scraps of papers I had on hand, that I stapled to gold embroidery floss and added with foam dots to the top of the layout.

Love this grouping of flowers, brads, buttons and bling!

This was a plain chipboard flourish.  I painted it with Ranger Tarnished Brass distress paint, then added some gold stickles and then black enamel paint as well.  I really like how it came out!

I love create little pockets on my layouts to hold a journaling card.  This is the front of the one I tucked under the bottom right corner of the photo.

Here is the side of the tag with the journaling.

Thanks for stopping by!  I really hope you will play along with us at the Challenge YOUrself Blog this month, and tell us what YOU are thankful for!  Check out all the details and PRIZE info "HERE!"

Scrap Our Stash April Sketch +3 "LOVE THIS!"

Hello my scrappy friends!!  HAPPY MID APRIL to you!  If it is the middle of the month - that must mean it is time for a SKETCH + 3 Challenge from the SCRAP OUR STASH BLOG!
We've got SWEET one for you this month - LOTS of possibilities!!
Take a look and let your imagination run with it!!
Not only is the Challenge to use the Sketch as your inspiration, you also need to include ONE item from each of the 3 Lists at the bottom!  This really makes it interesting - and if you are like me - you will be going through your stash, and finding "stuff" you forgot you had!!!!

For the +3 Challenge- I decided to use the following items from the Lists:
1)  Jillibean Soup  "Yellow Tomatoes" (the yellow lined base paper)
2) KaiserCraft "Vagabond/Nomad ( the pink flowered paper )
3) Lined Paper ( the Jillibean Soup paper, along with lined embellishments from Theresa Collin's Far and Away Collection)
Here is my Design Team Layout Submission:  "LOVE THIS!"
The photos in the layout are SELFIES that I took of my Mom and I at show of The Midtown Men at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, last May.  Her Mother's Day gift last year was "Dinner and a Show."  We had dinner at the restaurant at the theater before the show, and then enjoyed listening to The Midtown Men. Gifts like this, when we get to enjoy time together are my favorite! I love spending time with my Mom, we always have FUN times together.

Here are some close ups for you:
I decided to print the photos using a black and white filter on my computer.  I tore the edges and then inked them with Ranger Distress Stain - Peacock Feathers. LOVE this look!

The tag, from Heidi Swapp was once ivory.  I sprayed it with Patina Glimmer Mist and Dylusions Vibrant Turquoise Ink Spray. I then added a coral cardstock mat to the back to make the "LOVE THIS" title POP!  I secured it to the layout with a black and white brad from my stash, that I tied some cool/funky fibers too!  I love how it came out!
Here is a close up of the fibers!

This flower was made from the Die Cut Flowers pack part of the Theresa Collins Far and Away Collection.  I inked each layer of petals and curled the edges to give it some dimension.  I used a smaller black and white brad from my stash, that matches the larger one on the tag.

Here is a close up of the flower- there are 6 layers!
Thanks for stopping by!  I hope my layout and this Sketch +3 Challenge from Scrap Our Stash INSPIRES you to get out there and CREATE something!! Looking forward to seeing your submissions over at the

SOS July SKETCH Challenge "Then & Now"

It is time for my 2nd Layout for Scrap Our Stash's Challenge Blog -  It's not a WORD Challenge this time - just a Super Sweet Sketch to help you to use up your STASH! and it ALSO needs to include a "BANNER."

You can check out all the details and see the other Layouts created by the Talented Design Team by CLICKING HERE!

Here is the sketch - and it is a REAL FUN ONE !!   Check it out!!

This sketch really appealed to me, as it has lots of different "stuff" going on, and I thought it would be a great chance to use up some of my "Stash!"  First I needed to pick 2 photos - and, according to the sketch, I had to be willing to cut one of them in half!!  ( That brought me right back to the first scrapbook class I took, many many years ago.  I still remember the feeling of angst, when I cut my first photo on my paper trimmer!!)  Now, after cutting many a photo over the years, I looked upon having to cut a photo in half for this sketch as a FUN challenge, and a new way to add a photo to my layout!

I decided to make the theme/title of my layout "Then and Now" and used an old photo of my husband and I from when we were first dating @ circa 1976 for the "Then," and a photo of us from this year, that was taken on our recent trip to Alaska.

Here are a few close ups for you:

This photo was taken when we first started dating, and YES, we were high school sweethearts, and I can't believe that almost 40 years have transpired!!-  YIKES, it seems like just yesterday, or well maybe more like last month?! LOL!!

This new photo of us was taken on an excursion into Yukon Territory, BC, Canada, last month, while we were on our Disney Wonder Alaskan Cruise.  The day started out rainy and cloudy, but when we reached the "Musher's Camp," the sun came out and the sky was blue with puffy clouds!  Look at that amazing mountain in the background!

Here are some close ups of other elements on the page.

That large glimmer flourish has been in my stash for @ 5+ years.  I had used a mask in that shape on a project, and the plastic mask was all full of glimmer goodness from the Glimmer Mist that I was using, so I used it as a "stamp" on some cream cardstock.  I fussy cut it out for this layout, and inked the edges in blue.  So happy I finally got to use it!!

Part of this challenge is to also include a "BANNER" - some might interpret that to be the long 2 pointed end strip under the photos - or - if you are like me -add a string and some hanging tags and other elements!

Here you can see how I used a mask and 2 different Glimmer Mists on this corner.

I got to use LOTS of STUFF from my STASH on this page!  I really HOPE it INSPIRES YOU to play along with us at the SCRAP OUR STASH BLOG!!

Thanks for stopping by! If you have a minute - post a comment -  I'd LOVE to hear from you!
