September SOS Sketch +3 "Picture Perfect!"

Hello everyone!   Wait until you see this month's Sketch + 3 Challenge from Scrap Our Stash!!  I just LOVE this sketch!!  When I saw the colors listed in the +3 part of the challenge -( Black and Yellow,)  I just knew what subject I'd be scrapping, and what paper lines I would be using too!!

Here is this month's Sketch - remember you also have to include a min. of ONE item from each of the lists in your layout.  Full DETAILS, DEADLINE and PRIZE info - plus lots more beautiful INSPIRATION from our Design Team can be found on the SCRAP OUR STASH BLOG!

For my +3 items, I used (1) Air Balloons, (2) Black, (3) Canary

and here is my take on the sketch, for your inspiration...

The Black and Yellow made me think of all of the Disney "Stuff" I have in my stash, which I think worked perfectly with the challenge! This photo was taken at California Adventure, in Disneyland California, earlier this year.

These are our WONDERFUL friends from The Netherlands,  Paul and his mom Liesbeth.  We met them on a Disney Cruise from LA to Hawaii and back, in 2012, and have since sailed across the Atlantic Ocean with them in 2014, and this year we sailed through the Panama Canal with them! Hmm... I wonder what 2018 will bring???  I'll have to reach out to them and start planning I guess!!
Here are the "Air Balloons" - a chipboard piece from Simple Stories "Say Cheese" collection.  The round circle that says "Dream, Wishes, Memories, Magic" was made using my new tool from Epiphany Crafts. It is a circle punch that comes with sticky back raised clear circles.  LOVE IT!!

Of course I had to make a pocket behind the photo, so that I could include journaling. How sweet is the front of this tag?!

Here is the back of the tag, telling about the photo. I love that red washi tape with the Mickey hands don't you?!

I hope I've inspired you to go through your stash and play along with us at the SCRAP OUR STASH BLOG this month!
Looking forward to seeing what you create!

Challenge YOURself September Sewing Challenge- "Life in Color"

I can't believe it is time for our September Challenge, over at the Challenge YOUrself Blog! Where did the summer go??!!   I hope you were able to make the most of it, and enjoyed each and every day! (I'm also hoping we have a few more beautiful summer like days left, and I am also looking forward to the fall!)

This month, we are challenging you to add a little something different to your layout (besides a photo of "YOU" ) Somewhere, you will need to incorporate sewing on your layout. It is times like these, that I wish I had a sewing machine in my scrap room.  I've held off getting one, but, I do love the look of layouts with machine stitching  .... maybe someday I will breakdown and purchase one -who knows?  Here is the official Challenge - check out the CY BLOG for complete rules and PRIZE info!

And here is my Inspiration Layout for you:

This photo was taken this past May on our Disney Wonder Panama Canal Cruise.  I love this "LIFE IN COLOR" paper line from Simple Stories, don't you?!!

Here is a close-up of my stitching.  I used an old template I've had forever to punch the holes, and then threaded white embroidery floss through them.
Can you find the "hidden" Mickey?

I used lots of papers and embellishments that coordinate with this "Life in Color" paper line - it really is one of my favorites - I love the colors and the wonderful messages it states!

Thanks for stopping by - I can't wait to see what you come up with for this challenge - I hope this layout inspires you to play along with us at the Challenge YOUrself Blog!

Those Eyes,That Face! - SOS Book Cover Challenge for September

Well, this month's Book Cover Challenge from the Scrap Our Stash Blog looks like it is pretty much about "school" but look closer...  I drew my inspiration from the cute dog at the bottom/center of the cover.  Since my "boys" are in their 20's and I started scrapping "late" in their lives, I don't have very many school "type" photos around.  I decided to focus on the dog, as my newest dog, Tino, is my almost 3 year old "baby," and also the YELLOW background color!  So, you see, the book inspired challenges are pretty much all about what "inspires YOU" about the photo - so come on, and join us in this month's challenge!  I can't wait to see what INSPIRES YOU!
Be SURE to include a BOOK or DICTIONARY Paper in you Layout too!!

Below is my "Inspiration" Layout for you - as you can see - I focused on our youngest Portuguese Water Dog  - Valentino, or TINO as he is very affectionately known!!  I used the color YELLOW as my background color, just like in the book cover.  I also used a page out of an old children's fairytale book, as he was just a 4 month old little guy, when these photos were taken.

He did have me at WOOF!

He is still just as cute!

This was his first snowfall

Seriously, could you say no to that face?? - You can see the old page from a children's book that I used to layer some of the papers and patterns behind this cute photo!

As you can see, I tore most of the paper components in this layout. I really like the look it gives.
Here are some of the items used:
BoBunny "Happy Tails" - Paw Prints and Bow Wow 12x12 papers, along with decorative brads and buttons
Washi Tape
Distress Stains - Candied Apple, Mermaid Lagoon, Carved Pumpkin, Picket Fence

Thanks for stopping by, and I look forward to seeing what you come up with this month.  Please stop by the Scrap Our Stash Blog for full challenge details and PRIZE info!
