Scrap Our Stash Sketch +Flowers - Our "Fun Trip"

It is time for April's sketch at Scrap Our Stash!  This month's "word" is FLOWER, so in addition to the sketch, you must include an item that starts with the first letter of that word, in your layout submission.

Here is the sketch - I think it is a perfect one for those Instagram photos!
I used the following items from my stash, to fulfill the "FLOWER" Challenge:

F - Fibers, Flash Cards paper, Fired Brick Stain
L - Lined paper, Live.Love.Laugh paper, leaves
O - Ochre (color,) Oasis Stickers ( title )
W - Washi Tape, Wooden Hearts, We R Memory Keepers - Gold Sequins, White Wine paper, Wine Cork paper, Wine and Friends paper, Wine bottle, Wine glass, Wine canvas embellishment
E- Eyelet, Epiphany Crafts Punch and Enamel shape
R - Ranger Distress Stains, Ranger Distressed Inks, Reminisce -The Winery paper collection

Here is my inspiration layout for you!
This was a FUN TRIP to Myrtle Beach, SC with my hubby, son and my parents, the week between Christmas and New Years, at the end of 2015.

A new winery opened up and we enjoyed a tasting event.

It was the first time my youngest son was old enough to join the adults having a glass of wine!

Love this grouping of embellishments!

My Dad and my Mom, and my hubby and I.  I popped the 4 photo mat and made a pocket for a journaling tag behind the photos. Love the added textures of the fibers and the little "chit chat" word stickers worked perfectly. I love how they pop with the double matt behind them.

Here is the front of the tag.  I fussy cut the grapes and word wine, and outlined them in black to make them pop.

A little washi tape to bling up the back of the tag with the journaling. - Oops - I just realized, I wrote the wrong year - This was in 2015!!  I will have to go change that now! LOL!

I cut all of the leaves out with my circuit, then inked them with Ranger Distress Ink.  I curled them with my finger and popped them with 3D dots.  Love the enamel hexagon embellishment I made with my Epiphany Crafts punch.

My handsome son!

I really Love how the leaves came out and this little canvas embellishment too!
Thanks so much for stopping by today!   I hope the sketch and my layout inspire you to play along!  Head on over to the Scrap Our Stash Blog for more inspiration from my fellow Design Team members and to check out the PRIZE and Challenge Details too!

Challenge YOUrself April Challenge "INSPIRE"

Hello my Scrappy Friends!!  Happy April!  I hope Spring had finally Sprung in your neck of the woods!  I know I am looking forward to warmer and sunnier weather!

It is time for this month's challenge over at the Challenge YOUrself Blog!  This month's theme is all about the word "INSPIRE" ( and a photo of you too of course!)  What inspires you? Or maybe, who do you, or how have you inspired someone?

Check out all of the great "INSPIRATION" layouts from our AMAZING Design Team, and get all the details and prize info over at the Challenge YOUrself Blog!

Here is my layout for the challenge:
In case you didn't guess, my Mom INSPIRES me!  Her love of crafts, and her family always inspires me to explore my creative side.  We had such a great time at a paint night together.  I love how our paintings came out!
I used a new product from NUVO.  It is a mousse, or kind of like a paste that sets when dry.  I used it on the wooden title, and also dabbed it on the base page through a stencil - you can see a bit of it behind the flowers above.
You can see the gold a bit better in this photo.  I fussy cut all of the flower embellishments out of a 12 x 12 page from My Mind's Eye, then layered them and added some with 3D pop dots.
Another close up of the layers of flowers and some added bling.  I created a pocket behind my photo and tucked in a card for journaling.

Here is the journaling card - and yes, so blessed to have a Mom, who is also my best friend!

Another close up of the NUVO gold mousse - love this stuff!

I think I am going to have to purchase it in other colors too!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!!  I hope my layout will "INSPIRE" YOU to play along with us this month at the Challenge YOUrself Blog - Hop on over and check out all of the other beautiful INSPIRATION from the FANTASTIC Design Team there - and get all the details / contest rules / prize info, while you are there!   I can't wait to see what you CREATE!

This month, I started at the bottom left corner and traveled diagonally to the top right of the board.  I used:

Chevron Paper

Here is my Layout for your Inspiration:
When looking through photos and selecting one for my layout, Minnie's yellow dress caught my eye, I thought it would be perfect for this challenge!
Love this peony flower from Donna Downey - I've had it I'm my stash forever!  The flower stickers in this collection worked perfectly for the challenge!
Here is a close up of some yellow elements used,  and the chevron paper!

Love how this grouping came out!
Here we are with Minnie! She has her Panama outfit on - as were were sailing through the Panama Canal that day.  To cover up the blank space at the top of the photo - I added a piece of Washi Tape, the embellishments at the bottom of the photo help to cover up the blue carpet, that takes away from the photo.
I love that little polka dot flower embellishment from Queen and Co., and their brand new sweet Yellow, White and Red Pinwheels! I actually WON the entire Pinwheel collection on a Facebook Contest that Queen and Co recently had!!

Guest Designer for April for ArchiScraps Blot - SEW FUN!

There is a FUN and Colorful Challenge Blog that I have been playing along with recently.  The Blog is called Archi-scraps, and they are located in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia . If you like a good challenge, you should check them out and play along too!

I'm SUPER EXCITED to have been selected to be their April Guest Designer and I'm thankful for the honor!! Their challenges are quite unique, and mainly consist of one word, and an inspiration photo.  This really leaves room for your own interpretation, and makes it all quite FUN!

The Challenge for April is to make a layout or card featuring sewing (hand or machine) and using the photo below for inspiration.
I used the colors GREEN and ORANGE as inspiration from the photo, and did all my sewing by hand.
Here is my Layout:
As you can see in the journaling on the tag, hubby and I were on the Jungle Cruise, at Disneyland in these photos.  I hand stitched a design along the top and bottom of the layout, as well as added 2 lines of stitching and added some beads above and below the photos.  Lots of GREEN and ORANGE! I really wanted to give this layout a "JUNGLE" feel!
Here are some close ups for you!
Here is a close up of the stitching and I am loving that AWESOME title!  It is from a set of Dear Lizzy  - "Hello" Thickers

Here is a close up of the beading, and some of the embellishments near the top right of the layout.
Of course I had to add a not so hidden "hidden Mickey" on the layout - after all, we were in Disneyland!  Love that sweet little tag that I covered with 3 different washi tapes!

Here is a close up of all the layers, tearing and stitching.  I did use a plastic guide, and first punched the holes of the stitched design into the paper, and then got busy sewing!
Love the 3D pop moth embellishment, and another close up of the stitching.

Here you can see another close up of the beading along with a few stitches that I added to the burlap.  I fussy cut the leaves out of a scrap of patterned paper that I had and layered them with pop dots to give them dimension.

Thanks for stopping by!  Please take a peek over at the Archi-scraps Blog, and check out the full info on the challenge, along with lots more inspiration from the Design Team members there!
