"Traditions" SOS January Sketch Plus Challenge

Hello Everyone!  I hope 2020 has treated you well so far!  Half of the month is over already and that means it is time for the 2nd challenge from the Scrap Our Stash Blog for January!  Today we are bringing you this FUN sketch - and have added 2 addition challenges for you.
In addition to using this sketch as inspiration,
you need to use CHEVRON patterned paper and something GOLD.

Here is my Design Team Inspiration Layout for you - I used photos from our 2017 Thanksgiving Dinner.  I love hosting Thanksgiving every year, and spending time with our family. This year we were blessed to have some friends join us too!  Besides time together, one of the thing I treasure most about Thanksgiving is carrying on Family TRADITIONS.

I decided to highlight 3 of them in this layout
by placing them in the film strip element of the sketch.

The first photo shows our tradition of enjoying Bloody Mary's when everyone arrives, and serving them in an antique cut glass pitcher that was my Great Great Aunt Ethel's.  She passed away at 98 years old, and this year it will be 30 years since she left us!
Wow, I can't believe that!

The second photo shows the centerpiece of the day - the Turkey stuffed with Aunt Ethel's Stuffing recipe.  The memories this brings back are wonderful.
We are actually blessed to be living in Aunt Ethel's house and enjoyed many Thanksgiving dinners that she cooked for us here.

The third photo is of the delicious Apple Mutzens and pumpkin pie that my Mom makes. Our son Jake has been helping her make these for the last few years on Thanksgiving morning.  The recipe is from my Great Grandmother Bess, who was Aunt Ethel's sister.
That platter of Mutzens is always the first thing to disappear!

Here are some more close ups for you:

January 2020Challenge YOURself Blog #73 "One Little Word" "ENJOY"

Happy 2020 to you all!  Thanks so much for stopping by!  I'd like to share my layout with you for the first challenge of the year from the Challenge YOUrself Blog and invite you to play along with us too!

This month we ask you to pick "One Little Word" - this is a prompt inspired by Ali Edwards -who began a tradition in 2006 by choosing one word each January, to focus on, live with, investigate, write about, craft with and to reflect upon as she goes about her daily life.
I chose the word "ENJOY" - to remind me to ENJOY the big moments and the little moments in life. Life can change so quickly, so I am reminding myself to ENJOY each and every moment - from a simple hug or a "thank you" or an"I love you" to memorable events and trips.

I selected a photo taken on our 37th Anniversary, while we were on board the NCL Escape, on a vacation cruise to Bermuda.  While we very much "enjoyed" the cruise and everything about it - I really cherish and "enjoyed" our hug and the love we are still blessed to have for each other.
I LOVE this Full Bloom Collection from Kaisercraft!  I had so much fun fussy cutting the many layers of flowers that I used to embellish the layout.

I like to tuck a tag behind my photos to include journaling. It's an added embellishment, and a great way to include a bit of the story behind the photos in the layout.  I use 3D foam tape on the bottom and sides around the tag to slide it in behind the photo. This also give the layout an added dimension with the raised photo.

I thank you for stopping by, and wish you and your family a very Happy and Healthy 2020 - May you ENJOY every single moment and I invite YOU to join us this month at the Challenge YOUrself Blog, and hope you can play along with us this month too!

This month the Scrap Our Stash Blog brings you a FUN and NEW Challenge!
Let's play BINGO!!

- and include those elements on your layout!

Please head over to the Scrap Our Stash Blog for all Challenge Rules and Prize info and also some more fabulous layouts from the rest of the Design Team for your inspiration!

Here is my DT Layout - I used photos from our trip to London in 2018. We took a day trip/tour to Bath and Stonehenge.  Here we are having ice cream at a cute little shop in Bath!
I used items from my stash listed in the far left column - Washi Tape, Layered Sticker, Sequins, 4+ Patterned Papers, and a Banner. I hope you find some time to play along with us!

I love the bright colors and patterns of the Paige Evans HORIZON Collection from American Crafts/Pink Paislee - the suitcase paper and globe papers are so much fun!!
Here are some close ups for you:
I used 2 different kinds of Washi Tape to make pennants for my Banner of fussy cut globes.  You can see 4 different pattern papers here, along with some of the sequins. The green vacation card and blue card behind it, along with the fussy cut suitcases below are from 2 other pattern papers.

I layered the glittery arrow sticker, on top of the Happy Days chipboard sticker for the layered sticker element.

The ice cream was delicious and Jake, Nick, Rob, Phil and I enjoyed it!
The shop was so cute all pink, black and white!
Can you find me in the photo?
