SOS Feb sketch - "Just a Bunch of Characters"

Hi Scrap Happy Peeps!  It's the middle of February and time for the reveal of  my Inspiration Design Team Layout for this month's Sketch  PLUS 3 Challenge over at Scrap Our Stash!

Not only do we challenge you to use the sketch, but you have to pick ONE item from each of the (3) columns/lists below the sketch!  I can't wait to see what you pick and come up with!

Here is this month's Sketch +3

And here is my take on the challenge:
I LOVE this sketch! It includes 2 tags and I love to pop dot my photos and create little pockets for tags, that I can include journaling on! I also love any opportunity to layer lots of pattern papers too!  These photos are from our Character Breakfast, aboard the Disney Magic, on our West Bound TransAtlantic Cruise in Sept of 2014!
I used the following items from the LIST:
List 1 : Dark Pink Bazzil Paper and Picked Raspberry Distress Stain
List 2: Echo Park "Lucky in Love" and "Selfie Camera" papers
List 3: Fancy Pants "Summer Sun" and "Just Beachy" papers
Here are some close ups for you:
Here you can see one of the tags with lots of coordinating fibers

Just a Bunch of Characters! LOL! Love that little Pink Mickey Bling!

Here is the one tag, out of the pocket - journaling is on the back.

I love this little corner - I double matted the heart/camera sticker from Simple Stories "Enchanted" collection. The heart and star are from the chipboard embellies from that collection too.  I'm a sucker for adding washi tape, and I thought these colors went well. Of course I had to add a little bling here - and added that turquoise sequin to round out my "group of 3" rule!

The chipboard title was sprayed with Tattered Angeles PATINA Glimmer Mist - then glazed with Dimensional Magic - it is not really as dark as it shows in the photo.  Speaking of the photo - the servers on the ship make silly hats for everyone, using cloth napkins - so glad my guys played along!
Another grouping of "3" by the large Mickey Head Bling, and some more washi tape. You can see the other tag, tucked in the pocket I made behind the photo, along with lots of lovely fibers and layers too!

Here is the other tag lifted out of the pocket. I added some brads to break up all the stripes and add another texture/element to the layout.

As always, thanks for stopping by!  I hope I inspired you to CREATE and PLAY along with us at Scrap Our Stash!  Head over to the SOS Blog for all the Challenge Rules and PRIZE Details!

February Challenge YOUrself "One Little Word"

Hello everyone!!
It is time for our February Challenge at the Challenge YOUrself Blog!

This month, we challenge you to not only include a photo of yourself, but also to chose "One Little Word" - as inspired by Ali Edwards. You can find all the Challenge Rules HERE!

This year, I am choosing the word "Believe."    The end of 2015, and beginning of 2016 have been a bit of a challenge for our family and we are hoping and BELIEVING that everything will work out as it should be, so BELIEVE is my "one little word" for 2016.

I checked my stash - and found a wooden "Believe" chipboard element from the Simple Stories Say Cheese Collection, and decided to build a layout from there. I chose a photo from our January 2014 Disney Fantasy cruise, and just "had at it!!"

This is a photo of my husband and I, at the adult only restaurant "Palo."
It is one of our favorite things to do on a Disney Cruise, and we are blessed beyond measure to have been able to enjoy 8 of them since our first in 2000!!
I combined "stuff" from my stash of Simple Stories Say Cheese 1 & 2 Collections and embellished the "heck" out of this layout  - what do you think?
I decided to really make my word "stand out" and covered it with Gold Stickles
- I really like the way it looks!
I LOVE layering papers and embellishments - the FUN Photo frames with this collection are awesome for doing just that!  I inked the edges - you can see the gold on the black one in this close up.  The shiny/bling Mickey Head is from my favorite On-line Scrapbook store www.shopthedoo.com  as are all the components in this layout!

I made some banners out of various paper scraps - a large single photo leaves little room to embellishing, and I think this layer of banners adds so much!

There was a lot of dark, empty space in the upper right corner of this photo, so I thought it was the perfect place to add some Simple Stories goodies!!

I pop-dotted many of the embellishments to add dimension to the layout. Behind this grouping was a wine cabinet, so I think they covered up that area perfectly!  This photo also shows how I double matted BOTH the photo, and the base paper with Red and Yellow Cardstock.  I think it makes the whole layout POP!

This layout has also been entered in the DoubleClick Skittles February "Be Mine" Challenge!
Be sure to stop over there to check out this FUN new Blog that I discovered!

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Please take a minute to think of your "ONE Little Word" for 2016 - and I would love to have you play along with us at the Challenge YOUrself Blog!

SOS February Book Cover Challenge - "Beaches"

It is February already - and time for the next BOOK Inspired Stash Challenge from Scrap Our Stash!
I have to say, at first I thought this was going to be difficult, and I was a little confused as to what to do for this challenge, but that is what makes it a Challenge right!!

Here are the rules:
Using the left page, or book cover, as your inspiration, create a layout and include 2 or more HEARTS ( it's February, so of course Hearts are involved!!)
I have to admit, while I love Dr. Seuss, and have ready many of his books to my (now grown up) sons, I have never read this one.  Looking at the picture, I could have chosen the White, Blue, Black, Red color scheme, or a photo of a Moose! or maybe a big banner, or antlers, or a hat, or even just something related to hearts ("Big-Hearted Moose").... really, so many possibilities!  - I hope your mind is running in a bunch of directions right now, as to how you are going to interpret it, and that you will play along with us!  Click on the SCRAP OUR STASH Blog for all the details, deadlines and PRIZE INFO!!

I decided to use the shrubs or foliage at the bottom of the book-cover, and the starburst effect behind antlers as my inspiration, as they reminded me of a photo / selfie that I took while on vacation
this last October, at Beaches in Turks and Caicos!  Here is my layout:
I've had this intricate Basic Grey "Jovial" Die Cut in my stash from FOREVER!!  I thought it would be perfect to use it in this layout, as it has lots of foliage and an awesome color combo too!.  ( Are you as sad as me that Basic Grey has announced they are closing their paper crafting operations :-( )

I used lots of paper embellishments from the Simple Stories Summer Vibes collection -that I inked and matted on cardstock - here are some close ups of all the bits and pieces I used:
There were lizards everywhere at the resort!  I took this little chipboard one, colored him with Peacock Feathers Distress stain, then inked him with some Pearl paint, and then inked him with Twisted Citron Distress Stain. When that was done, I glazed him with Dimensional Magic.

Here we are sitting on the beach in the HOT sun, sipping on some adult beverages!  Let me tell you, this was our first trip to an "all inclusive resort" and it certainly won't be our last!  You can also see some of the paper embellies I used, along with enamel dots, and 2 wooden hearts that I inked with Distress stains, and then glazed with Dimensional Magic.

I made this "Beaches" title from a piece of the note paper that they gave us in the room at the resort. After cutting it out, and matting it - I glazed over the letters and pop dotted it on the layout.  You can also see 2 more hearts that were stained and glazed.

Here are a few more embellies, and you can see what I mean by the selfie in the center, with the palm tree "hat" or the starburst behind my head, kind of like the book cover.  The photo on the bottom left was one of our favorite spots to hang out by the swim-up bar!!

Here you can see where the die cut background is actually "pop-dotted" on the vanilla cardstock base, some enamel dots, and the wooden hearts inked with Distress Stains and then glazed.

A few more paper embellies that are added with pop dots in this corner of the layout.

Thanks for stopping by - I hope you will play along with us on this FUN Challenge over a the Scrap Our Stash Blog!! - Would love it if you took a minute to say Hi, now that you are here!
