Lasting Memories March GDT Week 5 -- *5 Patterned Papers "Good Wait!"

Hello Scrappy Friends!
It is time for my last week as a Guest Designer for the Lasting Memories Scrapbook Layout Blog.
I really had a great time with these challenges, and I hope they have inspired you to get some scrappy and creative time in, and play along with us!

The last challenge is to use 5 different pattern papers.  If any of you have seen my layouts on previous posts, you know this is not a problem for me - and something that I love to do. A helpful hint for those that might find this difficult - try to use papers from the same paper line or collection. This way the manufacturers have done all the coordinating for you.  If not, don't be afraid to put different patterns together on your own.  I'd suggest looking for patterns that contain the same or similar colors, and build from there!

Here is my layout - I used BoBunny's Happy Tails Collection - I used 7 different patterns in this layout - 5 are obvious. Numbers 6 and 7 are the front and back of BoBunny's Double Dot Orange Citrus Vintage, used to mat the photos, and for the journaling tag.

I also used 3 of the same photos that I had played with by using different filters from an app that I have on my phone - I thought they came out cool and worked great for this layout!
These are our 2 Portuguese Waterdogs, Maggie, on the bottom left with the white paws and chest, and Tino on the top right, who is all black.  This breed is very smart, and since they are a working dog, they need to be challenged and kept busy.  One of their favorite training games is "wait."  After they sit, and then down, I place a treat on the top of one of their paws. As you can see, the won't even look at the treat, and will leave it there until I say "OK, Take it!"

I then praise them and say "Good Wait!"

I've had the orange Double Dot Chipboard letters and swirls in my stash forever!, and thought they worked perfectly with this layout.

I matted and popped the "DOGS" sticker, and thought the orange dot washi tape worked well with the papers and chipboard. Love all the coordinating embellishments with this line!

I popped the mat with the 3 photos, and created a pocket to tuck a journaling card into.  Love that cute black and white doggie washi tape too!

Here is the back of the journaling card, and yes, I do love my dogs!  They bring such joy and love into our lives!

Thanks for stopping by, and thanks again to the Lasting Memories Challenge Blog for the March Guest Designer Spot!  I really had a great time - and completed 5 extra layouts this month too!! Check out the Lasting Memories Blog, for all of the challenge info and prize details and please join us, and play along!

SOS - Sketch + "CHARM" - "Dole Whip"

It is time for Scrap Our Stash's February Sketch +Plus Challenge!  This month we have a SUPER FUN Sketch for you - PLUS an added challenge to use an item from your STASH that begins with each of the first letters of the word "CHARM"
Here is the Sketch -

And here is my take on the Challenge!
This is a layout of my hubby and me having one of my favorite treats - a Dole Whip Float! We enjoyed this delicious frozen refreshment on our 2nd visit to Disneyland, in May of 2016.  If you have never had one, it is a frozen pineapple "ice cream" ( it is non-dairy,) in fresh pineapple juice! YUM!!

I used the following items for the "CHARM" part of the Challenge:
C - Cardstock, Carved Pumpkin Distress Stain, Circle, Cocoa Vanilla Flair
H - Hearts, the Letter "H" in whip
A - Authentique - "Utopia" Collection, Alpha Stickers
R - Ranger Distress Stains, Ripped paper
M - Metal Flair Buttons, metal Brads / Cocoa Vanilla "Make a Wish" Flair
Here are some close ups for you:
I cut the cup of Dole Whip from a photo.  I love the little puffy pineapple sticker, and the pineapple paper too!

Flair is my new favorite embellishment - and this pineapple one is just perfect for this layout!
Like the sticker says "Vacations Rock" - and so does that tiny pineapple paper, and the really cool base page!
If you've been on my blog before - one of my favorite things is to add a "pocket" behind a photo, using 3D foam tape - and add a tag for journal - you can see the washi tape pull tab and the top of the tag in this photo.
Here is the front of the tag - I thought it worked perfectly with the "fruit" theme!! I inked the edges and added the double washi pull tab.

Here is the back of the tab - I wrote right on the patterned paper, that is just like the base page.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you will join us over at Scrap Our Stash - I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Lasting Memories March Week 4 - "3 Different Tags" - Japadog

It is time for the 4th layout for my Guest Designer spot over at the Lasting Memories Scrapbook Challenge Blog!  This week's challenge is to use 3 different tags on your layout.  I love tags- they are such a fun embellishment for your layout - and I also like to use them for journaling, by creating a pocket behind a photo, to tuck them into!

The layout below documents part of a "gastronomical foodie adventure" that I took my family on, when we visited Vancouver, BC, Canada, in June of 2015.  We spent a few days there before and after our Disney Wonder Alaskan Cruise.  The cruise was AMAZING - but we really enjoyed all that Vancouver had to offer too!  We hope to go back - to both Alaska and Vancouver one day!

The photos in my layout showcase the one of a kind "Japadog," and my Mom, Hubby and I enjoying one!  I can't remember where I heard about Japadog, but I do know it was a stop not be be missed while we were in Vancouver!
First - a little bit about "Japadog!" They started out as a little push cart hotdog cart in Vancouver back in 2005.  They gained fame during the 2010 Winter Olympics and now have 7 locations in Canada, and 2 in California.  Here is the link to their website: Japadog History
Here you can see one of the 3 tags, and my Mom being a sport, enjoying her Japadog. ( PS - she said if we go back to Vancouver, she doesn't need to go back to Japadog! LOL!)

Loving the Black, White, Red and Yellow colors in this layout. The base page reminded me of a map of city streets, so I thought it was perfect for this layout.  I pulled the yellow in, because of the colors of the french fries, and my hubby's shirt.  ( PSS - Hubby said he could skip the weird hot dog place too, if we every make it back to Vancouver - LOL!)

Here you have tag #2 - I cut it from a 3 x 4 card on a piece of scrapbook paper.  You also see me "chowing down" on my Japadog, and a close up of the infamous hot dog and side of fries. I chose the "Terimayo" Dog and seasoned fries, and it looks like if I ever want another one of these - I will be going there on my own!  Here is the Menu "Japadog Menu" - what would you choose?
Here is the 3rd Tag - it is another 3 x 4 card from a 12 x 12 piece of scapbook paper - that I matted on black and then yellow cardstock.  I created a pocket behind the photo of the hotdog, and jounaled about our adventure on the back of it!

I hope you enjoyed my little foodie adventure and that you will join us in this 3 Tag Challenge over at the Lasting Memories Blog!  ( Hope I haven't made you too hungry!)   ~ ((HUGS)) ~ Sherri

Lasting Memories March Week 3 - "Lots of Numbers"

It's time for week 3 of my "guest designing" over at the Lasting Memories Scrapbook Layout Challenge Blog!  This week's challenge is to use "LOTS of NUMBERS" on your layout!  This was a fun challenge - and as you can see, I tried to do just that!  The Bingo Card, that I matted and used as a journaling tag has lots of numbers.  I also added some fun numbered Washi Tape to the tag and to the bottom left corner of the layout.  I added the year in bright shiny blue Thickers, and also stamped the date on the bottom left corner.
These photos were taken in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, one of the ports on our 2016 Disney Wonder West Bound Panama Canal Cruise.  After spending the morning swimming with dolphins! - ( that was AWESOME!!) we did a bit of shopping and had lunch right near the pier at this great restaurant.
The food was amazing - so authentic! The margaritas were WONDERFUL and the Guacamole - OH MY!!  I cut that little shark out of one of the photos that I took of the menu - he is just so cute!
The fish tacos, slaw and rice and beans were delish!  I pop doted the top photos and made a pocket on a angle to hold my bingo/journaling card.
My hubby had a Mango Margarita, and mine was a Cucumber Margarita with Chili and Cilantro.... ohhh my!! #YUMMY  #CHEERS

We really hope to get back to Cabo some day!! The people, food, scenery, beach... were all just terrific!

Challenge YOUrself Negative Space "FRIENDS"

Talk about a challenge!!  When I first saw this one - I thought - OH BOY, I'm in trouble - Negative Space? Really? Me? "She who needs to step away from the layout" as my friends say - before I put 5 pounds of embellishments on it!! ??  YIKES!!

But, since I "love me a good challenge" - I stepped right up to the plate, uh, I mean scrap desk, and decided to just "GO FOR IT!"

You can find out all of the challenge details, and PRIZE info at the Challenge YOUrself Blog - but basically - you need to be in a photo on your layout, and this month - use "negative space!"

Here is my Inspiration Layout for you!  I have to say - I LOVE LOVE LOVE how it came out!! - ( if you continue to the end of this blog post - I'll show you how I made that torn background!)
This photo is of me and my BFF, Janice - at a scrapbook weekend event, back in 2013.  We always have a BLAST at these weekends  with our friends and with each other!  Even though there is lots of "Negative" Space, I am happy with how I layered the pattern papers and the embellishments I chose.

The torn, tie dyed looking background was once a piece of textured plain white cardstock! - Not anymore!!
I cut out the larger feathers with the Tim Holtz Die, and saved the inside of the cut / the actual feathers, for another day - I then cut around the "negative" of the feather and used that on my layout. I also outlined them with a black fine point marker.
We had lots of fun counting down to the New Year, a few days early!  Loving the smile on our faces, and all the torn, inked layers of different patterned papers in this close up.  I outlined the stickers and the enamel dots from the collection too!  The rosette was also made from a Tim Holtz Die.
Here is another close up of the embellishments and the torn edges of the white base paper, that I inked and spritzed with water.

So - if you are wondering how I made that white cardstock "tie-dyed" I'd be happy to share:
First - I took the 3 colors of Ranger Distress Stain that I wanted to use, and "pounced" or dabbed them here and there on a

Ranger Inkssentials Craft Sheet.  I then spritzed them with a little water from a spray bottle.

Below you can see a close up of the Stain and the Water on the matt.

I then took the torn paper - and placed it textured side down, on top of the stains on my matt, and pressed gently.  I held it up so that there would be a bit of "drippage" from the top to the bottom.

Here is a close up of all of the colors - cool huh?!!

I inked all of the torn edges with the stains, and spritzed them with a bit of water to spread the color around - I have to say, I LOVE how this came out, and will be trying it again for sure.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope I've inspired you to play along and get a little "inky" with it too!  I hope to see your creation on the MARCH NEGATIVE SPACES Challenge over at the Challenge YOUrself Blog!  You could WIN a PRIZE!!

March Tic Tac Toe from Scrap Our Stash "Together"

It is time for March's Tic Tac Toe Challenge from the Scrap Our Stash Blog!  I love these challenges - so many ways to play along, use your stash, and get creative!!  Visit the SOS Blog for all the Challenge and Prize details, and to see all of the creative layouts from our Design Team!

Here is the Challenge board for you -

I used the 3 boxes down the center of the board -
Striped Paper - for the punched strip on the middle left, the tag, and the banner on the top right
Gold - Nuvo Indian Gold Mousse, gold embellies
Flair - My Mind's Eye "My Story" Collection Flair

Here is my layout for the SOS Design Team:
I used the beautiful "MY STORY" Collection from My Mind's Eye. Many of the embellishments and even some of the papers already have gold on them.  The photo is of my husband and me having dinner at the Blue Bayou Restaurant, in Disneyland. It was so cool inside, with the Pirates of the Caribbean ride all around us, and it was very delicious!
See, it looks like night time inside, but outside the sun was shining.  I added a new product I purchased at a scrapbook crop weekend.  It is called NUVO Mousse - it comes in a jar, and is like a paste.  You can use it with a stencil, or a dauber, or - I used it with my finger and rubbed it on the papers around where I placed my photo.  LOVE IT!!
Here you can see how that NUVO Mousse shines, along with the striped paper that I punched.  I love all the embellishments with this collection - the colors are awesome.
Here is another close up of the Nuvo Mousse, and you can also see the tag with the fiber pull peaking out of the pocket I made behind the photo with 3D foam tape.
This is the front of the tag, and is part of the collection - I matted it with more of the striped paper, and then with yellow card stock, and tied black and gold fibers at a tag pull.
May 6, 2016 was our 40th Anniversary of our first date!  We played kickball after school in the dead end street by my house! We began the Anniversary celebration while on a Disney Panama Canal Cruise, and continued it at Disneyland afterwards. I am so blessed to have this man hold my heart, and to have shared such amazing adventures with him.

Thanks for stopping by - I hope you will find time for YOU to play along with us this month at the SCRAP OUR STASH BLOG! I look forward to seeing what you create!

Lasting Memories March Week 2 Challenge - "BANNER"

It's my second week as a Guest Designer for the LASTING MEMORIES SCRAPBOOK LAYOUT CHALLENGES BLOG and I'm having a BLAST!  This week's challenge is to use a banner in your layout.  I have to tell you that in addition to the banner, I also used the sketch from last week too! It is really fun to recreate the same sketch, using different papers, themes and embellishments!

I started looking through old photos and found these 3 from our Disney Magic Mediterranean Cruise from 2007!  Once I decided to use them, I remembered I had the base page from Scrapbookers Painted Page - "Ships Deck" in my stash and thought it would work perfectly -  What do you think?

Seriously, can that base page be any more perfect to go with the photos??  These photos were taken somewhere in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea.  Look at that blue water!!

Here is a close up of that banner for you!

Here are some of the embellishments - you can also see where the tag I made for journaling is peeking out of the 3D pocket I made behind our photo.  ( Please excuse hubby's shirt - I know this was 7 yrs ago, and fashion was different, but I have NO idea why I would ever have let him wear that - or where it came from LOL!! )
Here is the front of the tag and a close up of the really cool base paper and some embellishments ( I know you are looking at that shirt again - please don't! LOL!)
Thanks for stopping by - I hope you will join us and play along this month at the LASTING MEMORIES CHALLENGE BLOG!
