Gift for my Grandmother!

What does one get their Grandmother for Christmas - I am sure I am not the only one who had this dilemma!

Our Mom-Mom is such a sweetheart, and I LOVE her VERY MUCH!  She is ALWAYS supportive and
proud of each and everyone of her "clan" and thinking of her always makes me smile.

She had this photo from a magazine that her brother sent to her, and mentioned to my Mom, that she would
like to have it framed.  Well, my Mom told her she would bring it to me to see if I could do something with it.

The caption under the photo reads:

A wise old owl sat in an oak, the more he saw
the less he spoke, the less he spoke the more he heard
why can't we all be like that wise old bird?
                                                     - an old proverb

This photo and saying remind her of her brother and I wanted to do something special with it for her.

So I made a canvas for her -  it measures @ 12" x 16"

First I sprayed it with Glimmer Mist - Sunflower, Electric Blue and Brick

Next I added a piece of Basic Grey's Curio~ Camelia paper, and added as spritz of Glimmer to it too! This paper has special meaning, as Mom-Mom has a Magnolia tree in her yard that was always our Pop-Pop's favorite!

Here is the finished piece.  The "Listen and Heart" Letters are Tim Holtz Grungeboard, the flowers and rhinestone swirls are Prima, the owl and wings and large chipboard swirl are Tattered Angels. The photo is on a black cardstock mat, on top of a mat made from Basic Grey Curio~Muslin and the edges were treated to some yummy Ranger Distress Ink - Vintage Photo.

the embellishment by the photo is an Artisan Element by Pink Paislee which was colored with Glimmer Mist and Glimmer Glaze, as was the Tattered Angels Swirl the Owl is sitting on.

The LISTEN charm and chain are by Tim Holtz, and the dangling beads are from an old necklace!

Mom-Mom LOVED the canvas - I hope you do too!

Drop me a line / leave me a comment - let me know you were here!

THANKS!
